Lagerfeld Effervescent at Dom Pérignon Party
Hosted by Chanel couturier Karl Lagerfeld and attended by more than 500 A-list revellers, the sparkling party to celebrate the launch of Dom Pérignon’s Vintage 1998 was bound to be a corker. The event gave fashionable guests including designer Zac Posen and model Alek Wek a privileged opportunity to sample the new vintage and to enjoy a sneak preview of the ad campaign, photographed by Lagerfeld and starring Helena Christensen.

Fashionistas across the globe will be quaking in their Prada Boots. Karl Lagerfeld is set to spill the secrets of the catwalks in a book about his life. ‘I plan to reveal absolutely everything. My publishers are very excited’, the legendary Chanel designer told me in New York at the launch of Dom Pérignon’s 1998 vintage champagne.’ I’ve kept notes all these years and I’ve worked with every actor, model, singer and society figure you can imagine’.

It wasn’t just the hoards of lovely ladies present that helped convince Karl Lagerfeld to host the debut of the Dom Pérignon 1998 in New York this week (Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen and Julian Moore were all in town for the event) –the tipples on offer played an important role, too. “I don’t drink much alcohol. In fact, I only like Champagne”, he said.
