At Dom Pérignon, one of the world’s most esteemed champagne houses, they have been looking at ways of regenerating interest in the brand and of differencing it from other marsques. Something daring was deemed to be essential to promote the latest vintage to be launched onto the market – the Cuvée Dom Pérignon 1998. A little lateral thinking was required – which is where Karl Lagerfeld came in. Lagerfeld is generally known to be a free, creative spirit who lacks neither money nor prestige.

When Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld invites you to a party, you don’t say no. No wonder, then, there was such a stellar turnout when he hosted a party for Dom Pérignon’s Vintage 1998 in New York last week. Now that’s pulling power.

Karl Lagerfeld even has a photography gallery on Paris’s Left Bank to his name. In recognition of his talents, he was chosen by Dom Pérignon to shoot the campaign to celebrate its new vintage 1998 champagne. There was much speculation as to which woman would be deemed bubbly enough to be Lagerfeld’s muse for these pictures, and it was with great pleasure that guest at the cavernous New York loft venue learned that the mystery woman in question was Helena Christensen.
