A PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY BY THOMAS HUMERY
French Photographer Thomas Humery releases a truly inspiring oeuvre drawing parallels between the myth of Dom Pérignon and in the land where myths are born: Hollywood.
Hautvillers Hollywood is the accomplishment of the photographic journey both geographical and spiritual.
Hautvillers Hollywood is Thomas Humery's response to an open invitation from Dom Pérignon. As an invited artist in residence, he sought to blow apart conventional approaches to such a subject, opting instead for a totalreinterpretation of the brand.
Starting out with a loose reflection on the confluence of these two somewhat unlikely poles, his work develops a more personal view of the "blond, pink and dark" intersections between the two entities and finds a world as ordinary as it is visionary: hovering between reality and imagination, existing in both the past and the present. It's a trip that follows a silent route: from the Marne's riverbed to the hills of Los Angeles, where the old Continent and the New World mesh to become a composite, if only for a fleeting moment.
“To me, Dom Pérignon is first and foremost an idea. A Myth.” Thomas Humery
