The meeting with Richard Geoffroy, the Chef de Cave, was an extremely important one. I think that is where it all began. (Subtitles DC 1) We want to gather some people together and, through their suggestions for this project, try to understand this brand and this world a little better. In terms of artistic field, we wanted to leave it very open, as it is neither a place exclusively for contemporary art nor for narrative cinema... (Subtitles BM 2) I think that the artists need to figure out what this champagne really is and what it stands for. There must be a link for us to want to participate. Overall, we want to have quite different points of view – the history and the heritage inspire these artists to create. (Subtitles DC 2) What we consistently find is the conception, composition, and time, the relationship with time that we talked about, the musicality etc. It’s the connection to the earth, the connection to the sky, the connection to what we have mastered and what we haven’t mastered. There are recurring themes of inspiration when referring to this brand. What is especially interesting is how they can be interpreted in different ways. (Subtitles BM 3) What is wonderful is that we are going to meet new artists. Some of the artists are known and some are not known at all. That simply makes life even more beautiful. The production of this champagne is an artistic endeavour. If we look ahead two or three years, we can imagine an eclectic collection. It is amazing to build these archives over time, to create this story. These are the works which will still be there in 10, 20, 30 years, and that this brand will have had all these partnerships, this richness, these artists who have come... It's something fantastic and a terrific story to tell, about things that will live on and that new audiences will see. Benjamin Millepied Curator Dimitri Chamblas Curator
